Yellow Building Sand

White Building Sand

Local Building Sand

Yellow and white building sand is used for face brick as it is a fine sand, colours vary from batch to batch.
Local building sand is used for stock bricks and the bricks are then plastered, as local building sand is coarse.

For every 1000 bricks you need 1m3 building sand.
For every 1m3 building sand you will need 5 bags cement.
There are 55 bricks per m2 on a single wall.
There are 110 bricks per m2 on a double wall.

To calculate how many bricks you need you multiply the length x the height x 55 or 110
EG: 10 x 2 x 55 = 1100 bricks , 1m3 sand and 5 cement.
Bricks must be wet to ensure they do not absorb the moisture from the dugga mix ( building sand mix)

Please note that the colour of our building sands may vary, as it is influenced by the specific area of the quarry being excavated at the time. While we strive for consistency, we are unable to guarantee a uniform colour.

Builders blend consists of river sand & 13mm/19mm mix
This is used for foundations and slabs.

Foundations for a double boundary wall, by law. 0,60m wide and 0,4m deep.
A single wall is 0,4m wide and 0,25m deep.

To work out the foundation or slab you multiply the length x the width x the depth.

On every 1m3 concrete mix you will need between 5 and 7 bags of cement, depending on the strength you require.

Plaster sand is used for plastering walls, between paving, building ( if they so wish) and to mix with screed to float a smoother topping.

For every 1m3 of plaster sand you will need 5 bags of cement.

Bricks must be wet to ensure they do not absorb the moisture from the plaster mix.
Please be advised we cannot guarantee the colour of the plaster sands as it varies from time to time, depending on where the quarry is.

To work out the plaster sand you multiply the length x the width x the depth.
Plaster sand can crack due to many factors, too much water in the mix or too little, the mix standing too long before being used, rain a few hours after plastering, not wetting the bricks, adding more cement or plaster to a batch that has stood over night or falling on the floor and has been scooped up too late and reused.

River sand can be used for a screed which is floating a smooth surface over a concrete floor, beneath paving, under baths, showers and prefab pools.

To work out the river sand you multiply the length x the width x the depth.

For paving about every 30m2 you will need 1m3 river sand if the ground is level.

To work out the river sand you multiply the length x the width x the depth.
